Oceanside search and rescue say they have found the 8-year-old girl who disappeared from her home Wednesday afternoon.
Investigators say the girl was last seen in the front yard of her home in the 1400 block of Lemon Street.
Her mother left the child at home, but when she returned a short time later, she could not find her daughter.
She called police at 6:15 p.m., and Oceanside officers started helping with the hunt.
The girl was found safe just before 11 p.m. and police said a neighbor took her home and had been there the whole time. The neighbor apparently did not hear the helicopter making announcements overhead and didn't know police were looking for her.
There was no foul play or suspicious circumstances, police said.
